Lost Fugue of Significance

Greetings—

Today's photo is a debut showing from "The Celtic Camera" private archives.

Hey, wadda ya know? No pretentious poetry forced upon you today! (I detect a collective sigh of relief! ) Nope, just a brief description of today's photo.

This was taken back in October of 2006 while I was on a road-trip to Asheville, NC for a series of gigs with The Sandcarvers. I've been trying like hell to find the name of the river for you, but Google Maps just isn't cooperating in this regard. I can tell you that it was taken from a bridge on U.S. 75 just outside of Knoxville, Tennessee. I wasn't driving at the time so I'm assuming that all you photographers out there will understand when I say that this was one of those, "Stop the car, NOW," moments. The lovely @celticsongs was dutiful (and, I hasten to add, very safe) in this regard.

As you can see, the sun was low in the sky and at just the right angle to create some lovely shadows. Autumn was just beginning to kick in "Down south" so the colors in the trees contrasted wonderfully between the dark blue of the water and the sky, I think. Although, to be perfectly honest ... it's the mountains that make it, doncha think?

Thanks for stopping by today!

Ahh this is a definite stop the car moment! Lovely image, and yep the mountains are great, but I love all the elements at play here! Glad you dug into the archives Gareth!
