Mystery Photo Contest, #1

Greetings—

I thought we'd play a new game today; we'll see how it goes.

The rules are simple: Guess what this is a shot of and how I accomplished it. Answer both questions correct and I''ll give you a photo of your choice from my web site ... a large photo file, suitable for framing. I won't even limit it, "...to the first caller." Whoever guesses right gets a photo! Just use the comment button to submit your answers.

Have fun!

UPDATE:
This was fun. Many
very close guesses, but no winners. The correct answer is:
a) This is a photo of my neighbors house taken from inside my house through ...
b) ... our block glass window!

Thanks to all of you who played. We'll try another one soon.

Alright, near as I can tell it's the outer wall of a building of some sort, woodish exterior, maybe a cedar siding?

The thing that throws me is the other areas could be windows, but then it looks like a computer screen to me too.

I'm going with exterior of a building though, and to accomplish this you probably did some warping in photoshop, but it also looks like there might have been some camera magic here, a little spinning while you shot maybe?

Either way this is pretty cool!

Very close, Spyros ... but sadly, not close enough. Good guesses, though.

Hmm, my first thought was that it was the side of a barn or house reflecting in the ripples of water.

Ah, Laurie ... like Spyros, you're VERY close, but not quite.

Looked like a leaf at first to me of a plant I used to have. Honestly though, no clue :)

Nice guess, A.Barlow ... sadly, not close ;-)

Okay, so I'm thinking now that the photo is a reflection in a window. Subject is something large and woody I'm thinking a tree now, and I swear the bright spots are a computer screen reflecting in the shot as well.

In a way you're even closer; in another you went completely of the tracks! ;-)

To me it looks like a house, maybe yours, there are tree trunks, grass, and more green, maybe tops of trees. Windows and door on the house. Possibly taken as reflected in the side mirror of car, or in car while moving then added more distortion to it in processing.

You're right on the cusp, Rach! ;-)

Aaah, this is hard, which way am I wrong!!!!! Hmmm, ok keep everything the same about the house, windows trees etc but this is reflected in an actual mirror, or car bumper, or car windshield.

Ok Gareth, I think you used photoshop to do a funhouse mirror effect. This is my thought, along with every thing else I've said already Am I there yet? :)))).

Rachel Cohen said...

Ok, how about, you used a wide angle lens, but at a very close distance. That would distort, and blur, especially if the shot was angled and aimed at a side view mirror, rear view mirror, car bumper, or front windshield. Gareth I'm not giving up! LOL!

Gareth Glynn Ash said...

You're kinda on the right track for the effect

Rachel Cohen said...

Ok, you took a picture using a wide angle lens, close up of an image that you had previously taken of a reflection of the house trees etc , and all the other things I've said?

Rachel Cohen said...

Wow,my next guess was going to have to do with a magnifying glass. Oh well, lots of fun! Can't wait till the next one! :)

I had no clue, so I left myself out of it. What a great feature Gareth, this is a great idea and look how much interaction it created! Love it, my friend.
